Intersection hires 2 employees in midst of COVID-19

MUNCIE, INDIANA — Despite the challenges that COVID-19 has brought to many businesses, one local company has continued to grow. Intersection, the most awarded full-service marketing and branding agency in East Central Indiana, recently hired two employees. Abby Hines joined the team as an account manager, and Bruno Reinert joined as a digital marketing specialist.

“We are blessed to be growing our team, despite all that 2020 has thrown at businesses around the world,” said Chance Benbow, owner and CEO of Intersection. “Abby and Bruno are outstanding additions to Intersection; it will be exciting to see how our agency continues to grow with them on our team.”

The agency’s internship program, which was named best in the state in early 2020 by Indiana INTERNnet, has been a critical pipeline for employment: since Intersection was founded, 60 percent of its employees had begun as interns. Fifty percent of the current staff are former Intersection interns—including Hines, who interned with the agency this summer.

“COVID-19 presented a unique challenge not just to how our business would operate, but also to how our summer internship would operate,” said Melissa Jones, Intersection’s copywriter and internship co-coordinator. “Interns have long been a staple to our agency, and we wanted to do everything in our power to ensure we could still offer that opportunity to students this summer.”

To adapt, the agency moved the internship online, hosting frequent Zoom meetings and “virtual coffees” to get to know the interns both professionally and personally.

“Abby caught our attention early this summer as she led the team of interns on client calls, brought creative ideas to our team brainstorming sessions and showed great initiative at every corner,” said Liz Gardner, vice president of account services. “Working remotely had no hinderance on her work ethic; it was very clear to us that she had the ‘it’ factor.”

Hines brings with around three years of experience in advertising. She was a Louis E. Ingelhart scholar at Ball State University and was a recipient of Campbell Scholarship Award for Creative Excellence.

Shortly after hiring Hines, Intersection announced a second new-hire, Bruno Reinert. Reinert previously worked with The Community Foundation of Muncie & Delaware County as a strategic communications intern, and he formerly managed social media and public relations for Ball State University’s English and History Departments.

While a student, Reinert was named Student Employee of the Year not just at Ball State, but also in the entire state of Indiana.

“Bruno has a proven track record of exhibiting excellence in his work,” Gardner said. “He brings with him an impressive portfolio and a strong drive for high-quality work. We are excited to have one of the state’s best employees on our team and to further grow our digital marketing services.”
